0

If you have a beautifully decorated garden, you will definitely love to keep it free of pests, as these are extremely harmful to your plants. A good hang of the harmful garden pests helps in identifying them and taking immediate against the same. Take a look at some common and harmful garden pests.

Spider Mites

These pests are found on the underside of the leaves. Dry, hot and dusty condition is suitable for their breeding. They build up colonies and create a silk protection around it. They damage the cells of the plants and create a stippled or silvering effect on the same. These pests make feast on a number of plants, thereby causing massive damage to your garden. They also feed on the houseplants.

Scales

Scales suck sap from their host plants. A waxy coating, which is secreted by them, makes them look like fish scales. They infest your garden by making huge colonies even before you realize what has gone wrong with your plants. They are very harmful for your plants’ health and seek refuge in their waxy protection when insecticides are used.

Leafminer

Leafminers often refer to different insects living in garden though the commonest of them is the larvae of the tiny files. These feed on the leaf tissues and build up visible channels between the two sides of the leaves. There are two ways to get rid of them – either by attracting natural parasites or planting trap crops.

Thirps

These fringe-winged insects make a feast on a wider variety of plants. They wreck havoc on your garden by causing discoloration and deformities that result in reduced sale of the crops. More often, they are the prime reason for several plant diseases. What is more, they transmit more than 20 infectious diseases that damage and destroy the plants.

Mealybugs

They thrive in both warm and moist climates. They suck juices from the plants. They release a powder-like wax to protect themselves while sucking juice. They are often the sole reason for heavy damages to plants including mango, pineapple, sugarcane, grapes, mulberry, papaya, orchids, sunflower and many more. Their harmful activities increase manifolds in presence of ants that protect the mealybugs from parasites and predators.

Aphids

They are called plant lice. They are small pests feeding on plant sap. They usually congregate on the tips of the new leaves and the undersides of the stems. The sap-sacking pests cause damages to the leaves by turning them yellowish.

Aphids and Ants share a symbiotic relationship between them. The aphids secrete honeydew that is extracted by the ants and in exchange, they protect the former. It results into growth of black sooty fungus on leaves. Due to their rapid rate of reproduction, the aphids pose a greater threat to your plants. They are one of the leading causes of several plant diseases.

Whiteflies

These live on the undersides of the plant stems and leaves. They are a menace to the plants and often cause heavy damages to the agricultural crops throughout the world. They usually wreak havoc on the flower plants.

It is not easy to control these menacing garden pests, as they are immune to many chemical pesticides. Therefore, a well-planned biological control method is often the only way to achieve success against them. For Best Pest Control, always contract a professional service provider.

When it comes to air conditioner replacement in Edmonton, the selection of the right contractor could be challenging. For replacing your air conditioner, you need to hire a trained professional who knows what he is doing. Here are some tips that are often helpful in choosing a perfect air conditioning contractor:

First off, you need to evaluate the experience of the prospective contractor. When you are going to select a contractor, make sure that you are selecting a highly-qualified and experienced contractor who has adequate knowledge and understanding about these procedures. A good way of gauging the knowledge and experience of a prospective contractor would be to ask them some questions about the repair and replacement of the air conditioning units. The quality of their responses will help you make a sound decision.

Verify the reputation of the prospective contractor in the local area if you wish to make the right decision. Reputation plays an important role in the career of any contractor, so keep this in mind. For achieving success in this specific industry, it is necessary for a company to enjoy the trust and confidence of the local people. Be sure to contact the contractor’s past clients and ask them questions that are relevant and important.

Get help from your friends, family, neighbours and colleagues when looking for a contractor that deals with furnace replacement in Edmonton. Word of mouth is often the best way to hire a dependable air conditioning and furnace repair or replacement contractor in your area.

Checking the license of the contractor is equally important as well. Always select a contractor that has been licensed by the government. Ask the contractor to give you a photocopy of their license for your satisfaction and peace of mind.

You want to work with a contractor that charges competitive prices. Some companies may charge you a heavy amount for minor work. Such contractors are not a feasible option for you, as they can easily compromise the viability of your investment. Get estimates from a number of prospective contractors to have a brief idea of what the right price is.

Any type of furnace replacement in Edmonton is the job of a professional and trained air conditioning and furnace replacement contractor. When you want to install or replace any unit at your office or home, you need a professional who is skilled, trained and qualified in the installation and replacement of air conditioners and furnaces.

When selecting a contractor for air conditioner replacement in Edmonton, ask some questions about how they operate and what type of projects they typically accept. In case you have any doubts about the contractor, now is the time to clear any confusion. Get the official contact number of the contractor. This is essential, especially if you are using the Internet as the sole mode of communication.

With that said, you must sign a written agreement with the contractor before starting work. This agreement should include all relevant details, like the price, the start and end date and other key aspects.

Nevertheless, before hiring garden professionals, always make sure to go for the top rated ones. Here are some notable advantage as to why better reviews typically lead to better services.

Amazing Utilization Of Garden Space

Landscaping isn’t merely an art. Sure, there’s a whole lot of tasteful designs going on but that’s just one part of what makes a great garden landscaping. There’s a technical side to it that might not seem apparent to the untrained eye.

In addition to being able to pick the best looking and top-quality pottery, gardening experts also know where to procure pots at a lower price. They’ve grown their network from years of doing professional gardening services so it isn’t really surprising.

Leave the decision-making to the pros.

Unconventional Designs

Although there’s nothing wrong with mainstream design ideas, sometimes, going the unconventional way can be more rewarding. A distinct garden landscape design can set a garden apart from others which will definitely make it feel more special.

However, unconventional doesn’t always have to mean weird. In most cases, it’s just a way of how professional landscaping services Sydney from Amico and other reputable gardening pros do their job. It’s what separates them from amateur gardening services.

5 Tips on Integrating a Functional Finish for Your Garden

Image result for 5 Tips on Integrating a Functional Finish for Your Garden

Your garden is intended for relaxation where you can find peace and quiet. Just by looking at the plants and the landscape design, you will be able to find your zen balance. Gardening can also be therapeutic as a hobby, giving you a sense of purpose and achievement.

If you love home improvement, you probably will enjoy experimenting on functional and decorative finishes for your garden. You may do it either as a DIY project or hire a contractor.

If you are still not sure about the best finish that will complement your landscape design, you may search for examples from online sources or from landscape design magazines. You may also consult experts in the field.

You should consider integrating aesthetics with functionality for your garden. After all, your garden is not purely for your own pleasure but also a venue for entertaining your guests and for spending quality time with your family.

1. Accentuate the wall finish

The walls should have a finish that will either accentuate or contrast with the patio and fence. For instance, if you use smooth and light paint colors for the walls and fence, you should use a darker and more textured finish for the patio.

On the other hand, if you use smooth ceramic tiles for the patio, you can use a brick finish or rock finish for the walls. You should emphasize the contrasting colors.

In this manner, both the wall and the patio will stand out rather than blend with each other. Of course, you are not prohibited from choosing a uniform motif for your house. However, variety is better than monotony.

2. Install sliding doors

Using sliding doors for your patio will save you space. This will also prevent the interior floor and the door bottom from being easily damaged. Sliding doors have their own wheels and rails, allowing for smooth opening and closing. You will also be able to avoid the danger of accidental slamming of the doors due to strong winds.

You may apply a simple design with large glass panes for the doors if you want to maximize natural light. The interior of your house will be properly illuminated during daytime, thereby minimizing the need for artificial lights.

3. Put solar-powered garden lights

If you like to enjoy your garden at night, you should put solar-powered garden lights around your garden. You will improve the night-time aesthetics of your garden and the security of your home. You will also be able to save a bit on electricity if you use solar-powered garden lights.

You may use a variety of lights to emphasize certain plants or accentuate some of the key garden features like statues or decorative rocks. You may also install overhead lights around the patio. If you have a large garden, you will be able to use it for parties at night if it is well-illuminated.

4. Construct a roofed walkway

You may use concrete, wood or metal as materials for your roofed walkway. You may also have a stylized trellis constructed using flowering vines as roofing for the walkway.

Garden walkways not only improve the overall landscape design but will also provide cover from the elements such as during the rainy season or from harsh sunlight.

Paint the walkway

If you have a roofed wooden walkway for your garden, you should make sure that it is protected from the elements as well.

Use weather-resistant paint for the walkway, frames and roof. If you use high quality paint, you may only need to re-coat the walkway periodically. Paint will also protect the wooden walkway from termites and mold. As long as water is prevented from soaking the wood, early deterioration can be avoided.

5. Apply bright paints on rocks

You can change the mood of your garden and make it look more festive, especially during special occasions like birthday parties for your children or during Halloween and Christmas. One way of doing this is by applying bright paints for the random big rocks in your garden.

You can use all the colors of the rainbow for this purpose. If you want to be more artistic, you may even paint pictures on the garden rocks. If you want your designs to be temporary, you may use water-based paints that can easily be washed away after each event.

A functional finish for your garden can be as simple as applying paints or as elaborate as adding a few structures. You do not necessarily have to be an artist or a landscape designer to come up with good ideas. The aesthetics and functionality of the finish will largely depend on your imagination and requirements.

If you have pets at home or small children, of course one of your main concerns when purchasing artificial turf is whether or not it will be safe for little hands, feet and paws! You’ll be glad to know that even cheap artificial grass is usually perfectly safe for both kids and animals, allowing you to relax while little ones play and pets roam free in your garden.

Easy to Install

Another great reason to consider switching your real grass for artificial turf is that it’s easy to install. Homeowners can often install artificial turf by themselves using just a few basic tools. Many artificial turf companies design their turf in such a way that you won’t need to contact a professional landscaper to install it, something that can help you to save more money in the long run.

Easy to Uninstall

Not only is artificial turf easy to install in your garden, it’s also easy to take it up and get rid of it if you decide to do something else or even want to go back to having real grass. Artificial turf is by no means permanent, and once you’ve installed it, it can all easily be brought back up again if you need to move it or replace it with a different garden feature.

Less Pests

Although these insects can all be found in your garden as standard, if there are too many, going outside becomes less pleasurable for the whole family. Artificial turf is less attractive to these creepy garden guests, which is one of the reasons why homeowners are choosing it more.

Avoid Grass Allergies

If you go out in the summer and start to sneeze, artificial turf could help you go out more when the weather’s nice without having to worry about allergies or hay fever. If you suffer with allergies to pollen and grass, this is a great way to keep them at bay when you keep other plants in your garden to a minimum.

How To Clean Your Yard Properly Before Winters

With autumn upon us and the cold winter season rapidly approaching, it is safe to assume that you are not spending much time pondering about your home’s lawn. However, autumn is an ideal time of the year to prepare your home’s lawn for the coming spring season given autumn’s occasional rain and cooler temperatures. Although it may be the end of the summer, this does not indicate that the lawn care season is also complete. mean the end of lawn care. Following a hot summer, your yard most likely is in need of some autumn clean up for it to be able to endure the cold winter months. If you take care of your lawn now by giving it some attention before the colder weather arrives, your lawn will look lush and healthy come springtime. Below are three useful tips that you can use for properly cleaning up your yard before the winter.

Tip #1: Keep Mowing

Mowing your grass frequently during the fall is essential for the health of your grass, as well as its ability to fight the cold weather. If you don’t moe your lawn before the winter, lawns typically develop a nasty, moldy fungus. You should be mowing your lawn during the right time and at the right height with sharp blades. Generally, grass will stop growing once temperatures dip below 50 degrees or so, which is around mid-October in most places and is also when you should be doing your final few cuts of the season. When you see the first frost, start cutting your grass no lower than 2-2 ½ inches. If it’s taller than that, you can be inviting snow mold and if it’s shorter, the grass may get stressed by the winter temperatures.

Tip #2: Fertilize Your Lawn

During the summertime, it is possible that your grass’ nutrients may have been expended and must be replenished. This can be accomplished by utilizing quality fertilizer. For your grass, you should be using a fertilizer that contains a high amount of nitrogen, which is essential for promoting growth. Your grass also needs potassium and phosphorus, which help strengthen your lawn while giving it the ability to resist disease and drought.

Tip #3: Rake the Leaves

Although no one enjoys taking all of those leaves that fall from the trees, it is very important for you to do so promptly. The last thing you want to do is wait until all of the leaves have fallen on your grass, then raking them all at once. This is because leaves can stick to your grass if large amounts are left un-raked. This happens as a result of morning dew and rain, which can suffocate your grass and potentially cause fungal diseases. Another alternative to raking is to use a lawnmower that is fitted with a collection chamber or a vacuum system. Regardless of the method you use, just be sure to take the leaves before they become a soggy mess.

Tip #4: Water Your Grass:

The majority of homeowners are convinced that their lawns require less care and maintenance during autumn since grass grows slowly. However, this is actually the opposite, as your grass actually absorbs energy, nutrients, and moisture in preparation for a cold, long winter season. Watering your grass before cold temperatures arrive is beneficial for your lawn because water actually strengthens your grass, enabling it to be protected against the damaging cold season.

Just because it’s the end of the summer and warmer weather, does not mean that you should stop caring for the health of your grass and abandon proper lawn management. If you begin prepping your lawn before the cold arrives, it will be much easier to maintain when it’s time for spring.
